ABOUT THE HOUSE

The House of Borratém is situated in the Saloia region (municipality of Mafra), a few kilometers from Lisbon, in the center of a village that has been characterized in the past by agricultural activities.

The shortage of water in this village has led families to make small wells. In the street on which this house now stands, there was once one of these wells, which served mainly to feed animals, which the locals came to call Poceco do Borratém.

Due to its peculiar location close to the capital, this small family home, built in 1944 and built to a high standard, offers a rural experience and serves as a starting point for exploring the region’s many attractions.
